About the Art Drop

Despite being in the fashion industry for over twenty years, Alexi Lubomirski chose never to join a gallery or focus on selling prints.

Now, as times change and the industry rules are broken on a daily basis, Lubomirski has decided to finally open his archive and delve into the treasure chest containing two decades of fashion photography, during an exclusive three day art drop, where he will offer up thirty of his favorite images.

Lubomirski says about his collection:

“Looking back into my archive, I can see the annual shifting sands of the visual landscape, and am so appreciative to have worked for magazines at a time of such creative freedom - and the budget that came with it.”

“We were allowed to create characters, storylines, fantasies and aspirational imagery that allowed us to dream, and be swept away in the imagination of a photographer, stylist and creative team. Magical locations on mountaintops, deserts, jungles and distant cities, were the backdrop for these narratives to unfold, and we, the viewer soaked up the imagery in beautifully laid out magazine spreads, compared to today’s canvas which is the size of a phone screen, that our fingers are twitching above, eager to swipe on the next image.”

“I look at the imagery that I have been allowed to create and see a beautiful, rich and colorful capsule of time, with a visually creative depth that may or may not return, when we were allowed to push the imagination, delve into a layered narrative and explore carefully curated characters.”

“As photography became so democratized, due to the birth of the phone camera, that it evolved from a selective art form to a throw away pastime of the masses, I feel so fortunate that a portion of my career existed during a time of such creative richness and depth, and am excited to now share imagery from that time with others”

The Art drop will begin at 9am on Nov 21st and end at midnight Nov 23rd.
